WHYY Philadelphia: "Active" video games may not... →
“Baylor School of Medicine professor Tom Baranowski said he has two theories. One is that kids manage to play active games rather inactively… The other hypothesis is that physical activity while playing games replaces, rather than supplements, other exercise.”

This is a park I run in a lot and I’ll be watching this project very closely.
The biker/ pedestrian traffic problems aren’t nearly as bad in this park as in Central Park (dear slow bikers: GET OFF MY LANE), and I actually like having the bikers around in the morning. The real animosity it seems is between the bikers and the cars, and this definitely won’t help that ongoing...

As if to illustrate!
I'm at a work presentation where they're serving pizza. There are two dudes sitting in front of me.
DUDE #1: No pizza?
DUDE #2: I'm training.
DUDE #1: I see.
DUDE #1: What are you training for?
DUDE #2: Corporate Challenge.
DUDE #1: That's, like, in June.
DUDE #2: Yeah, but the #1 guy competing for [Workplace] last year left the company, so. The field's wide open. No pizza.
94MONKEYS: **eats all the pizza**
FIN.
Six days left
This time next week I hope to be walking away from Cafe du Monde with a stomach full of beignets — and sore legs from the Rock’n’Roll New Orleans Half Marathon.
I love to joke about taper (eat ALL the things!) but I don’t really enjoy it. I tend to fill in those spaces with worry, rather than with anything productive. Part of me wants to “fitness cram” for the...
Guacamergency
I made 3 avocados’ worth of guacamole for my Oscar party and half my guests canceled. Please come take this bowl away from my face.

For info on what Ragnar Chicago is, the site is http://www.ragnarrelay.com/race/chicago
Basically it’s a 12 Man Blogger Relay Team that runs 200 miles from Madison, Wisconsin to Chicago. We pile into 2 vans, and run around the clock until we hit the finish line, each runner doing 3 legs of the race, with each leg ranging from just under 3 miles to just over 8 miles. If we...
Tumblr! I need your help →

My local running store is giving away a free pair of running shoes to who ever has the most likes on their reason why they run. It seems to be down to me and another runner. My story is that after running my first marathon I went in for physical therapy on my hip. I reconnected with a beautiful girl from High School and convinced her to run the 2009 Chicago Marathon. We...

Dear Back On My Feet NYC,
I’m excited that you are launching a local running chapter after reading about your success in other cities fundraising for and helping the homeless through running. That’s why I signed up to volunteer with you guys!
And I wish you would send me some information about that. Instead, I’ve already gotten 5 or 6 requests to donate… since January 1st. The program hasn’t...

Not to stir the pot here, but a colleague of mine tweeted this earlier today, and i immediately thought I should share. Did this already make the rounds today?
Granted, I’ve been a bit Tumblr absent lately, but I lurk now and then, and am pleasantly surprised to see so much less body hate on here than I did even a year ago when I first joined.
The article cites a study showing...

Too occupied for coherent posting
So, an announcement instead! If you are going to be in New Orleans for Rock’n’Roll in a few weeks (eek/yay), I am planning a pre-race dinner on Saturday night. If you want to come, you can comment on the NOLA Facebook page (where there is a lively discussion already going about pancakes), or message me, or reply to this post, or email me… or carrier pigeon… but let me...
