The day before I got home for the holidays, my brother had ACL surgery. This is his recovering (bionic) leg in the stretching machine he was “prescribed” by his doctor — it helps him get a tiny amount of movement, so he’ll recover faster.

My brother is being heroically patient about the whole thing, although I wish he would take more painkillers. Of course it’s pretty scary to see him in a brace this size, but I’m told this is totally normal.

He was joking that I should exercise with the stretching machine instead of going to a gym. When I asked him how long it would take to run 4 miles in it, he said, “Oh, 3-4 days.” Bah, guess I’ll stick to running under my own power!
