1. PSA: Get rid of your old gym shoes

My office has been having a shoe drive through an organization called Soles 4 Souls. I thought from their name that they were a religious charity (not that there’s anything wrong with that!), but they are an independent nonprofit delivering “gently used” shoes to survivors of natural disasters and other people in need.

I currently own — deep breath — 6 pairs of running shoes, 3 of which were completely cashed as far as running miles, but in good shape otherwise. I don’t need that many pairs of casual sneakers sitting around. I don’t! So I kept the pair I learned to run in and said farewell to 2 more, that will hopefully go to someone who really needs them and who wears the superior shoe size of Women’s 9.5.

You can find a Souls 4 Soles drop-off location near you (a lot of running stores have them) or mail them if you’re too busy. I’d been planning to unfuck my habitat during taper anyway — this was a great way to start.

This is so great! Between running shoes and CrossFit shoes, I honestly have 8 pairs of sneakers. I don’t need that...
